Preservation of cultural and natural resources as a condition
for the tourism development of the cross-border area.
The project focuses on creating cultural events that promote cultural exchange and mobility. In addition, it is working to create integrated tourism destinations to combat stagnant growth trends. The project emphasizes the integration of sustainable tourism, the promotion of multi-dimensional tourism and the creation of innovative cross-border tourism destinations, integrating different natural and cultural resources on both sides of the border.
Encourages stakeholders such as public authorities, educational institutions, cultural organizations, businesses and the general population to learn and recognize the cross-border cultural landscape and create cross-border cultural associations in the form of organized conservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
As part of the INTERREG IPA CBC Greece Albania 2014-2020 project, a project entitled “Enhancement Extroversion on Culture, Folkloric and Gastronomic Tourism” is being co-funded by the European Union.
The aim of the project is to promote cultural and artistic activities and events as a means of cross-border linking of traditional and modern cultural life and heritage of the cross-border area. Co-operation is based on common goals, as both regions are underdeveloped, suffer from a lack of population, lack basic infrastructure and have low incomes and limited business opportunities.
The project includes the Kefalonia-Ithaca Chamber of Commerce as the lead partner, the Municipality of Northern Tzoumerka, the “Theater of Zakynthos” Professional Stage, the Kastoria Cultural Development Group “Musisi”, and the Center of Alvanis and Alvanis Kyprou International affairs.
